By Great Little People
February 6, 2024

The Great Little People sessions with their games in English for children have started in the month of October in more than 25 centers. During this month, the little ones experience autumn through Activities for learning English for children, know expressions in English related to autumn, songs in English for children and games in English, among others.

Autumn is a season that allows children to experiment through their senses, thus stimulating their motor development and curiosity, and all of this can be easily done with activities in English, from home or in the park.

Below, we suggest games in English for children, to do with the family, in order to learn vocabulary in English about the autumn season.

Sensory

1. SENSORY BOARD

On a rigid board we paste some autumn elements. With this material, we introduce vocabulary in English. We named each of the fall elements and then added an adjective in English. 'Autumn leaves are colorful and crunchy', 'logs are harsh and rough', 'plants are pointed'.We can accompany this activity with classical background music, we recommend Vivaldi's Autumn.

2. SENSORY BOX

We use any shallow container to make our autumn sensory box. We add rice or decorative stones in the colors of autumn to the base. On a field trip, we collect autumn elements, leaves, chestnuts, pineapples, acorns or others and add them to our sensory box. We work vocabulary in English by naming each of the elements, which we can introduce by singing songs in English for children.

Later we will make a selection of songs in English about autumn.

3. AUTUMN SPAGHETTI

We experimented with colors in English. We handle spaghetti dyed in the colors of autumn, previously boiled by adding a few drops of food coloring that you can find in any supermarket. This experimentation activity is very simple and effective for learning English.

Stories for children in English

1. LEAVES POP-UP BOOK

This story guides children ages 3 to 8 through the transformation of fall. Small tabs direct children to flaps under which they can read about the color change of leaves, the habits of various animals, and other topics related to autumn. This story with vocabulary in simple English makes it easy to learn English in a fun and very attractive way with truly surprising scenarios.

2. I LOVE FALL- A TOUCKH-AND-FEEL BOOK

From wool scarves to plump pumpkins and crisp leaves, kids ages 2 to 4 will spend hours touching the textures of fall and learning expressions in English with this story by Alison Inches.

Songs in English for children

Next, we make a compilation of songs in English for children from 1 to 7 years old. Listening to and sing songs for children in English is an infallible resource for learning English, since rhythm and repetition help to memorize vocabulary in English and expressions in English.
